Eco-Trekking
Mountain Bike
Be an ecotourist in Belize's stunning natural paradise in a socially, environmentally, and physically responsible manner. Support the budding mountain bike sport among Belizean youths, and support appropriate local conservation efforts.
Our tours typically include 3 to 6 hours of riding daily. We can go hardcore along some roller coaster, gravel routes that weave through Belize's Maya Mountain outback. Or, we can take it easy along narrow, rainforest-shaded logging trails, keeping a keen eye out for exotic birds and wildlife and rivers that we can stop and take a swim in. You decide.
By patronizing "non-resorts" we give the small farmers a reason to keep their land beautiful, and a way to generate income without having to chop down all of their forests. By eating home cooked meals, we put a little cash in mom's pocket, and treat ourselves to the very best.
Days wind up at a farm with a few extra rooms, someone's house, or a family run campground. We eat a home cooked meal and get a glimpse of how Belizean families really live.
By mid-morning we take off again, or if you're in need of it, we take a rest day. Rest days come in handy, because they can also be used to do things other than biking or resting. Farmers, or the lady of the house, are almost always happy (for a small contribution) to show you around their place, take you to a cave that only they know about, take you fishing for tomorrow's meal, take you canoeing... the list goes on. When you're "rested" enough, we take off again, at an easy pace, or jamming, (you decide!) and check out another little piece of Belize, intimately and appropriately.
Write to us.Tell us your needs and your budget and we'll put together a program for you that you'll love and never forget.
