St. Margaret's Village & The Five Blues Lake National Park
St Margaret's is a Mestizo village established in the early 80's by refugees from the Guatemalan civil war.
The community's conservation project is the Five Blues Lake National Park. Undoubtedly one the most beautiful places in all Belize, this maze of rainforest, lakes, sinkholes, and jagged limestone mountains still needs lots of help. Despite its beauty, this park gets almost no visitation, which means it generates almost no income.
Every year it gets harder and harder to justify its conservation for a community that depends on hunting and agriculture. Your ideas and your efforts are welcome.
